Proof of Concept

Image
Above you could see our presentation about the proof of concept and MVP testing. Testing was done to achieve proof that our idea would be supported by user and it would fix the problem we chose. As explained the MVP test was done with the storyboard comic and open discussion about the idea. We asked few opening question for the conversation to start like "What do you think about?". People we interview were all very open minded and very talkative so it was easy kept feedback. We showed the comic to the 4 students (university, vocational school) and to 2 adult students (Adult education center). They were from age 21 to 32, 4 women and 2 men.

Experiment & Validate

Image
In this workshop we started with User testing vs. Usability testing. For this we used our classmates and found that we need mobile app for our smart chair project to be designed. It enables some user values such as Functional Value, Financial Value, Social Value, Psychological Value etc. All these values are important but the functional and psychological values are the most important here that we considered. While we were performing pain and gain proposition we found interesting values in our project such as our product brings mental and physical satisfaction and ensures a healthy and balanced life while educating oneself. We found that that pains are: laziness, less motivation, concentration, busy schedule, bringing materials to the lecture etc. are the main pains and the gains are: healthy mind and body, strong concentration, strong motivation, flexibility etc. Here is a full picture of value and concept proposition and its canvas fully desined. Visit to Futurice

Image
We had opportunity to visit Futurice office in centrum of Tampere. When we first arrived there, we were amazed how cool the public part of the office was. They had different kind of sofas and chairs and also a swing! During the visit we got a lot of useful knowledge for the project and for the future working life. Considering the project, the most interesting thigh was the explanation of the Lean Service Creation which can help when designing product or service in a user-centric way. We also got books that show and explain idea of using different kind of canvases as a part of the Lean Service Creation. But what was weighted the tools are not the main thing but the outcome. So, e.g. the canvases should be used as a aid not as obligation to perfect outcome. We have already used few of the canvases in the workshops to help us guide process so it was very useful to hear the whole story behind them. Picture from: https://futurice.com/

Project IDEA

SMART CHAIR SMART CHAIR is a chair that takes shape in optimal position for user to feel as comfortable as possible. Options can be modified manually also but usually it shapes automatically. User can also save the manually selected position and use it later quicker. Chair can also change from chair to treadmill. With that user can walk or run. Chair has virtual display and a physical desk part for the user that wants to take note old fashioned way. Display can be used instead of the computer because it will have all the applications and features needed for the studying as the SMART CHAIR is firstly for the students. User logs in the chair with their finger print or voice.

Ideation

Image
Workshop started with solo ideation. Brainstorming solo brought us seven ideas. After the solo thinking we changed papers and tried to come up ideas based on team mate’s ideas. With this we came up with five ideas. After these parts we looked through all the ideas this was and counted there to be twelve of them. We then added them on board with pots-it notes. Next round of our ideation was reversed brainstorming. Which meant that we had to come up with the most crazy or bad idea we could think of. With this we got seven ideas you can see in the picture. So now we had total of 19 ideas to evaluate. We choose three criteria to find what could be the most useful ideas for us. Our criteria were: Desirability Well-being Useful After voting from our ideas we had three best ideas to go with: Wide display Good: Better flexibility, you don’t have to be in the specific place to addend the lecture. Change environment of the classroom. Better visibility Bad: Lack of concentr...

Personas

Image
Hello all! As a part of this weeks work we also did personas. Personas are done to help us to evaluate our design ideas during to process. For example we can use them by thinking  how would these people use or feel about this feature I am adding now. Personas were created based on the segments we had decided for the product. Persona by Helinä Persona by Tasmia Persona by Sabbir Laura Makinen is 28 years old and she is from Jyväskylä. A teacher by profession and teaches UI in Tampere University of Technology. As always prepared and serious for delivering the lectures.1 minute late is a great late she considers. She has vast knowledge in present and future technology trends and technologies. Writing is her hobby and her preference is science fiction. Her novels and journal papers were published in the school’s magazines many times. She loves Class room and imagines a world with full of digital equipment’s and machines’ she noticed the present class room enviro...

Stakeholders Map

Image
In workshop 3, we were asked to create a stakeholder’s map based on our project topic. We had a homework for workshop 3, to identify stakeholders. In the workshop, we analyze our individual homework and prioritize the key stakeholders. Then we create a stakeholder map which picture is given below. Figure: Sateholder's map As our project is about future classroom environment, so we choose Board of directors and the government as a keep satisfied block, as media has always interest on some new projects and new technologies, so we keep media as a Monitor block. We keep other departments, researcher and supporting stuffs in monitor sections. As they all are the stakeholders of our project and they have low power and low interest that’s why we keep them there. In our project, students and teachers are most important stakeholders and they have high power with high interest, so we keep them in manage closely sections. Parents of students and the companies who are sponsoring hav...

Trend Map

Image
Hello again from Designoholics Team! One activity in our second workshop was to find out what kind of trends the future would bring us. Then we did individual researchers and come up with related trend and technologies related to our project. As we decided now we are going to do our project related to education environment so here below is the trend map of this. Current educational system and the environment is actually going through a transformation, new technologies are added day by day to improve the experience and as supporting materials. we tried to show the most popular and recent trends in this map. tough we updated a bit the map after finalizing our product topic. Nowadays, students, wellbeing becomes popular as people are using more and more technology stuff and getting lazy to do physical labor. We found various health apps integrated with desk or chairs is also a trend in recent so we think it could be related to our product....
